La Gomera is one of the greenest island of the archipelago. The National Park was declared as World Culture Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO. Since the last vulcanic eruption, about two million years ago, an unique landscape has been formed. Deep canyons are leading to the sea, composing valleys with innumerables palm trees and small creeks with black sand.
The terraced landscape at the hillsides created by the habitants of La Gomera and the pretty settlements are telling the history of the human’s effort all the time. La Gomera is the only of the Canary Islands on which the European Charta of Sustainable Tourism was introduced.
